Description

This is a hugely impressive antique Victorian sterling silver 2 handle presentation trophy/cup and cover hallmarked for London 1892 with the silversmiths mark for Charles Stuart Harris.

It measures 16" (41 cms) tall to the top of the lid x 15 1/2" (39.5 cms) across including the handles x 8 1/4" (21 cms) deep.

It's in excellent condition inscribed on one side 'The Hill Cup' and on the other it has the winners from 1892 - 1896.

It has a superb bold decoration of leaves and flowers and is very heavy weighing 2420 grams .

I have done some research and have found a couple of the jockeys - WP Cullen & Lushington - having ridden in the 1892 Grand National.
