A Rare Georgian Silver Mounted Dry Mustard/spice Jar.

An unusual George III silver mounted dry mustard jar of Regency design. These rare and interesting items were used on the Georgian dining table for holding dry mustard (as opposed to the more commonly found 'made' mustard - a condiment that along with other spices, such as cayenne and cinnamon were used in dry form as a condiment.

This lovely example has a petal cut base and hobnail and slice cut body with a reeded silver rim. A wonderful collector's item and still usable today for other condiments.

Condition :- Excellent, with no chips or cracks. There may have been an old 'tidying' to the foot rim, commensurate with age and use
