A Rare Silver Pot Pouree Box. William Comyns.

A rare silver pot pouree box by the great William Comyns. This lovely piece is of rounded form with a pierced pull-off lid. The inside is gilded. Small pieces like this were used to scent cupboards or chests of drawers and were filled with violets or other fragrant petals. They were also component parts of large travelling toiletry sets and are not often found. A good collector's [piece, both decorative and practical.
