19th century
Sold 1 January 1900 · Gatsby Jewellery Ltd
This “Victorian 1.77 Carat Sapphire & Diamond "Turned" Cluster Ring, Circa 1880 ” found a buyer.

It was listed by Gatsby Jewellery Ltd. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.

Description

A restored Victorian ring. We reclaimed the head of this ring from a old Victorian piece whose best days were long behind it, polished the sapphire, replaced the diamonds in the surround with modern stones and placed it on a simple white gold band. The result (if we do say so ourselves!) is utterly stunning. The original silver cluster is set horizontally and the fine, handmade detailing in the basketwork is out of this world.

Cut - Oval cut sapphire and brilliant round cut diamonds.

Colour - Diamonds are E. Totally colourless.

Clarity - Diamonds are VVS. Sapphire is VS.

Carat - Sapphire is 1.77 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.28 carat.

Circa - 1880.

Condition - Excellent.

Size - Currently N (UK) or 6 1/2 (US). Complementary sizing is available, can be sized up or down.

Measurements - The cluster is 12.3mm by 10.8mm and sits 6.5mm from the finger.

Metal - 18k gold and silver. Tested.

Declaration

Gatsby Jewellery Ltd has dated this piece to the 1880s.
