This Georgian chest of drawers dates from 1750 and is formed of solid timber in a warm brown colour with an original polish finish. The construction incorporates oak drawer linings, ivory key escutcheons, later Victorian cut-glass knobs, and splayed bracket feet, alongside small areas of missing veneer and missing strips of cock beading edge to the drawer fronts. The storage configuration consists of two short drawers positioned above three long drawers, complemented by diamond escutcheons. Practical proportions measure 114 cm in height, 114 cm in width, and 58 cm in depth. Traditional English styling suits placement within a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway to provide ample storage space. The substantial presence and period character integrate smoothly into classic country house interiors or traditional heritage room schemes, accommodating folded garments, linen, or personal items while serving as a functional surface display area.

A Georgian chest of drawers typically features classical proportions, fine wood veneers such as mahogany, and a functional arrangement such as two short drawers over three long drawers.

Primary construction relied on solid mahogany or flame mahogany veneers, with interior linings made from pine or oak, complemented by brass, bone, or glass handles and escutcheons.

Authentic Georgian examples feature hand-dovetailed drawer joints, hand-sawn backboards, period-correct lock plates, and characteristic foot designs such as bracket or splayed feet.

Positioning the piece against a painted wall highlights the wood grain, creating contrast when balanced with contemporary table lamps, framed artwork, or minimalist ceramics on top.

Position the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the original finish.
