Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Queen Anne Revival desk dates from 1920 and uses warm brown burr walnut veneer with brass hardware. The serpentine front features a moulded top edge, a wide long drawer positioned centrally above the kneehole, and four graduating side drawers fitted with brass swan-neck handles and decorative backplates. The shaped frieze curves above the knee space, while the structure rests on long cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. The piece measures 78.8 cm high by 106.5 cm wide and 54.5 cm deep. Position this desk in a gentleman's library, study or home office as a workspace or writing table. The compact footprint fits comfortably against a perimeter wall or floating in the room, while the five storage compartments organise correspondence, stationery and desk accessories within easy reach. The warm wood tones and traditional silhouette suit both period interiors and modern traditional living spaces.

A serpentine front desk features an undulating, wave-like front profile, combined with figure-rich burr walnut veneers popularised during the 18th century and revived in the early 20th century.

These pieces typically utilize figure-grained burr walnut veneers applied over solid timber frames, fitted with hand-dovetailed drawer boxes, cast brass drop handles, and carved cabriole legs.

Authentic 1920s revival pieces often feature hand-cut dovetails, secondary timbers like oak or pine inside drawers, original cast brass hardware showing mild oxidisation, and genuine veneer figure rather than modern printed patterns.

Position the desk against a neutral wall to highlight the timber grain, styled with a modern desk lamp, sculptural accessories, or a contemporary leather chair to balance historic craftsmanship with clean lines.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent veneer lifting or cracking, cleaning regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying natural beeswax polish annually.
