This nineteenth-century Victorian round jelly mould is an English kitchen piece originating from the period between 1850 and 1900, made by Bentham & Froud of London. The construction uses copper and tin, showing a rich copper metallic tone with visible surface wear, tarnish, and scratches. Ten domed flutes rise to a lobed top above a smooth cylindrical base rim, and the underside carries an impressed orb and cross maker's mark alongside pattern number 501. The object measures 11.5 cm high and 11.5 cm wide. Displaying this piece upon a kitchen island or open shelving brings historic utility into a modern interior as a decorative accent or functional culinary mould. The solid metal composition and distinctive fluted design establish an authentic rustic farmhouse aesthetic suited to traditional and country-style cooking spaces.

During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, copper jelly moulds were staple kitchen items in grand households, used to shape elaborate gelatin desserts, jellies, and flummery for formal dining.

They were typically stamped or hand-hammered from heavy-gauge sheet copper and lined internally with tin to prevent reactive copper contact with food.

Authentic examples feature heavy construction weight, folded or dovetailed seams, trace remnants of original tin lining, and occasional stamped maker marks or inventory numbers.

These objects are frequently displayed hanging on kitchen walls, arranged along open shelving, or placed on kitchen islands and dressers to add warm metallic tones.

Clean gently with warm water and mild soap, then polish with a specialized copper cleaner to maintain tone while preserving natural surface patination.
