Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A waterfall or spike chandelier is a tiered lighting fixture characterized by concentric tiers of long glass or crystal prisms hanging from a metal ring. Emerging in popularity during the 19th and early 20th centuries, these designs cascade downward to create a shimmering effect when illuminated.

Traditional tiered chandeliers are constructed using cast or pressed brass, bronze, or gilded metal frameworks. The decorative drops consist of lead crystal or cut glass prisms linked together with small metal wire pins.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut or molded heavy lead crystal drops showing minor inconsistencies, alongside patinated brass or bronze fittings. Original fixtures often exhibit hand-twisted wire links connecting the crystals and natural age-related oxidisation on the metalwork.

A compact crystal pendant can be placed in smaller spaces such as hallways, dressing rooms, or cloakrooms to provide focused ambient light. Suspended individually or in a sequence, it introduces textual contrast against modern minimalist backdrops.

Dust the fixture regularly with a microfibre cloth or soft brush. For deeper cleaning, wipe individual crystal prisms gently using a cloth dampened with a mild alcohol-and-water solution, ensuring the metal framework remains dry to prevent tarnishing.
