This pair of Chinese cloisonne vases dates from the nineteenth-century Qing period. Each piece has a four-sided quadrangular form with a baluster base, finished with bronze metal rims and a solid brass ground. The surface displays colourful enamel decoration inlaid on wirework cloisons, featuring multicoloured floral medallions set against a dark ground. The base incorporates pale blue enamel detailing, while the overall construction shows the traditional metal and enamel techniques of the era. The pair measures 21 cm high, 9 cm wide and 9 cm deep. These decorative vessels suit placement upon a mantelpiece in a traditional or eclectic interior setting. They function well as standalone decorative objects or display pieces on a sideboard, shelf or console table within a living room, study or hallway. Their compact dimensions allow them to fit comfortably onto standard mantelpieces and narrow display surfaces without dominating the space.

Chinese cloisonne is an ancient metalworking technique where thin metallic wires are soldered onto a metal substrate to form intricate compartments, which are subsequently filled with vitreous enamel paste and fired.

Antique cloisonne vases typically feature a cast bronze or copper core, bronze or copper wirework cloisons, and coloured enamel paste made from powdered glass oxides.

Authentic Qing dynasty pieces usually feature substantial cast metal weight, fine hand-worked copper or brass wire, gilded accents on un-enamelled rims, and minor surface pitting from the historical firing process.

Position a pair symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard to add geometric structure, rich colour, and historical craftsmanship to modern or traditional schemes.

Wipe surfaces lightly using a dry, soft cotton or microfibre cloth to remove dust, avoiding water or abrasive chemical cleaners that could degrade exposed wirework or gilding.
