Bakhtiari vanity bags were small, handwoven utilitarian containers crafted by nomadic tribes in Western Persia, traditionally used to store personal items, toiletries, or small possessions during migration.

These bags are constructed using hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and foundation, often featuring natural vegetable dyes and sturdy flatweave or pile-woven structures designed for durability.

Authenticity is identified through traditional asymmetric knots, natural colour variations from plant-based dyes, characteristic tribal geometric motifs, and the presence of hand-spun wool with authentic wear.

An antique textile can be displayed mounted on a neutral wall as fibre art, framed behind UV-protective glass, or placed flat on a surface as part of a curated collection of artefacts.

Preservation requires keeping the textile out of direct sunlight to prevent dye fading, avoiding excessive moisture, and gently vacuuming with mesh protection or professional textile cleaning when necessary.
