This Edwardian chest of drawers follows a Georgian style, shaped with a serpentine front and rendered in a polished warm brown mahogany timber. The piece stands 74 cm high, 63 cm wide, and 51 cm deep, maintaining compact proportions suited for smaller spaces. Details include four cockbeaded drawers fitted with original heavy brass swing handles and backplates, accompanied by blind fretwork carving along the corners and supported below on bracket feet. Placed in a living room, hallway, or bedroom, the chest serves as a practical surface for display while offering functional bedside or corner storage. General usage wear is visible across the surfaces in keeping with age and handling. The top surface features a polished finish with canted edges, contributing to a traditional English country house aesthetic suitable for daily integration into domestic interiors.

A serpentine chest of drawers features a double-curved front facade that bows outward in the centre and concaves toward the sides, a design popularised in eighteenth-century Britain and Europe.

Traditional mahogany chests utilise solid or veneered mahogany over pine or oak carcasses, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, dustboards between drawers, and cast brass swan-neck or drop handles.

Authentic period pieces display hand-sawn timber marks, irregular dovetail joints, original iron lock mechanisms, naturally oxidised secondary timber inside drawers, and age-appropriate wear around handles and feet.

A mahogany serpentine chest can serve as a focal point in an entryway or bedroom, paired with contemporary artwork above and minimalistic ceramic accents on top to balance classic woodwork with modern lines.

Mahogany should be dusted regularly with a soft dry cloth and treated with a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct heat sources to preserve the finish.
