Daisy jewellery gained widespread popularity in Denmark during the mid-20th century, notably becoming a cultural icon after the Danish royal family received daisy brooches to mark the birth of Margrethe II in 1940.

These pieces are traditionally crafted from sterling silver, often finished with a layer of gold wash known as silver gilt or vermeil, and hand-decorated with vitreous enamel.

Authenticity is usually verified through makers marks, silver purity stamps such as 925S, and the meticulous application of hard enamel over textured or gilt metal surfaces.

This type of piece works well as a distinct focal point when paired with minimalist modern clothing, or layered alongside other delicate silver and gold chains for a mixed-metal effect.

Enamel and gilt surfaces should be cleaned gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding abrasive dips, harsh chemicals, and ultrasonic jewellery cleaners which can damage the delicate glass coating.
