Description

This superb and rather rare silver pot pourri box was made by the celebrated Samuel Jacobs and is dated London 1896. Pot pourri boxes are very sought-after and this cast silver lidded example is beautiful. Of unusual triangular form, the hinged silver lid cast and pierced with putti amongst fruiting vines.

The sides embossed with a beautiful flower head garland. Solid silver base.

Hallmarks:

S.J for Samuel Jacobs.

London Assay Mark.

Date letter "p" for 1910.

Lion Passant.

Dimensions and Weight:

Width: 11cm / 4.4 inches.

Sides: 7.5cm / 3 inches

Height: 3.5 cm / 1.2 inches.

Weight: 87 g / 3oz.

Condition:

Very good.

Interior a little tarnished at places, commensurate with age and use.
