The George V period spans the reign of King George V from 1910 to 1936, characterised by a continuation of Edwardian elegance alongside the gradual emergence of early Art Deco influences, often featuring traditional craftsmanship and distinct British hallmarks.

These items are typically constructed from solid sterling silver, often featuring hand-beaten or engine-turned surfaces on the lid, paired with cast decorative feet and integrated velvet or silk linings to protect the contents.

Authenticity is verified by locating official British hallmarks stamped into the metal, which include the makers mark, the standard mark for sterling silver, the town assay office mark, and the date letter corresponding to the specific year of testing.

Position the piece on a dressing table, bedside surface, or open shelf to catch the light, allowing its reflective metallic surface to introduce a touch of historic craftsmanship and textural contrast to modern surroundings.

Preserve the metal by dusting gently with a soft microfibre cloth and applying a specialist silver polish sparingly only when necessary, avoiding abrasive materials that can wear down hallmarks and delicate surface engraving.
