Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George V era, spanning from 1910 to 1936, often featured a blend of traditional Edwardian elegance and early Art Deco influences, though domestic silver frequently retained classic neoclassical motifs and hand-engraved scrollwork.

Authentic pieces from this period are crafted from sterling silver (925 standard) and typically bear British hallmarks including the assay office mark, the lion passant for sterling purity, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of assay.

Genuine antique pieces show appropriate age-related surface wear, crisp hallmarks struck into the metal rather than laser-etched, and often come in original fitted presentation cases lined with silk or velvet.

Mixing heritage silver accessories into contemporary table settings introduces textural contrast and historical depth, pairing well with both minimalist porcelain and rustic wooden dining tables.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip away desirable patina and damage delicate engraved details.
