The Arts and Crafts movement emphasised handcraftsmanship, traditional techniques, and simple forms over mass production, often featuring hand-hammered surfaces and understated decoration.

Pieces from this period were typically fashioned from solid sterling silver using traditional smithing techniques such as hand-raising, soldering, and wire-working, often displaying visible hammer marks.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks indicating the makers mark, sterling standard, assay office, and date letter, alongside distinctive hand-wrought characteristics rather than machine stamping.

This piece can be displayed on an open dining table, within a glass-fronted cabinet, or utilised practically to bring a touch of historical craftsmanship to contemporary table settings.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth to maintain the patina, stored in a tarnish-resistant environment, and kept away from direct moisture and harsh chemicals.
