Art Nouveau jewellery, prominent around 1890 to 1910, is characterised by fluid, organic lines, asymmetrical motifs inspired by nature, and a focus on artistic craftsmanship over purely high-value gem setting.

These pieces frequently combined yellow gold bands with platinum-topped settings to enhance the brilliance of diamonds, alongside hand-cut stones such as old European and old mine cuts.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut diamonds with distinctive irregular facets, closed or open-back settings typical of the period, hand-engraved details, and natural metal oxidisation.

Antique pieces add historic character when contrasted with minimalist contemporary attire or layered with sleek, modern fine jewellery collections for an eclectic yet balanced aesthetic.

Historic jewellery requires gentle cleaning with warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding ultrasonic cleaners that can compromise fragile antique settings or vintage stones.
