FAQs

French hall lanterns originated in the 18th and 19th centuries, designed specifically to illuminate grand entrance halls and vestibules with clear glass and metallic frames.

These fixtures typically feature cast bronze or brass frames housing blown or curved glass panels, joined with traditional soldering and mechanical fasteners.

Authentic pieces display period-appropriate manufacturing techniques such as hand-cast metal components, natural patination, and hand-blown glass containing minor imperfections.

Hanging a historic lantern in a contemporary entryway creates an intentional focal point that contrasts clean modern lines with traditional craftsmanship.

Maintain the metal by dusting with a soft dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that can strip the natural antique patina from the bronze surface.
