These French wall sconces date from 1930 in the French Louis XV style. The pair is constructed from gilded metal, lead crystal, and mirror glass, rendered in a gold colourway with transparent and white components. Each girandole features a gilded metal framework with twin scrolling arms, a lattice work pierced band centred by floral motifs, a mirrored backplate, a wirework canopy, and leaf-shaped bobeche drip pans. The decoration includes beaded swags, crystal droplets, and hanging tear-shaped glass pendants. The visible details comprise a small crack in one mirror and original gilded patination on the metal surfaces, alongside two white cylindrical light sockets per sconce. Measuring 61 cm high, 31 cm wide, and 18 cm deep, these wall lights suit placement on narrow wall spaces in a bedroom, hallway, or drawing room to provide layered ambient lighting.

A girandole is an ornamental branched light fixture, often featuring elaborate crystal prisms, glass drops, and decorative metalwork, designed to reflect and disperse light across a room.

Traditional girandoles were constructed using gilded sheet metal or brass armatures, accented with hand-cut lead crystal drops, glass beads, and decorative candle nozzles.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut crystal drops with subtle variation, original wire pinning, hand-formed metal frames, and evidence of historical adaptations for electrical wiring.

Positioning a pair of girandoles flanking a large mantlepiece mirror, dining room sideboard, or hallway entryway adds vertical balance, soft accent illumination, and architectural detail.

Dust crystal elements regularly with a microfibre cloth, gently cleaning glass prisms using a mild diluted isopropyl alcohol solution while avoiding dampening the gilded metal frame to prevent oxidisation.
