We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Antique iron and brass beds gained popularity during the Victorian era following the Industrial Revolution, when mass production of cast and wrought iron components became commercially viable for domestic furniture.

These frames are typically constructed from tubular iron and cast iron joints, often featuring hand-forged scrollwork, decorative metal collars, and bolted side rails designed for durability and ease of assembly.

Authentic pieces often exhibit signs of age such as hand-poured iron nodes, forged joints, original patinated paint finishes, and maker marks or registration numbers stamped into the metal.

These beds can be integrated into contemporary bedrooms by pairing them with crisp linen bedding, neutral colour palettes, and contrasting textures to balance the industrial nature of the metalwork.

Preservation involves dusting with a dry cloth, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners that could strip the original finish, and periodically checking and tightening structural bolts to ensure stability.
