Victorian Scottish pebble jewellery features native hardstones such as agate, jasper, and bloodstone set in silver, gaining immense popularity during the mid-to-late 19th century largely due to Queen Victorias fondness for Balmoral and the Scottish Highlands.

These pieces typically utilise locally sourced Scottish hardstones cut and polished into geometric or mosaic patterns, mounted in hand-engraved sterling silver frames featuring traditional celtic or foliate motifs.

Authentic period pieces often feature closed-back settings, natural variations in the microcrystalline structure of the agates, hand-cut silver engraving rather than cast stamping, and period hallmarks or typical period clasps.

Such distinctive pieces can be worn as a singular statement accessory paired with minimalist contemporary attire to highlight the intricate stonework and historical craftsmanship.

Agate and silver should be stored in a dry, tarnish-resistant pouch away from direct sunlight and harsh chemicals, cleaning only with a soft microfibre cloth to protect the polished stone surfaces.
