The George V era, spanning from 1910 to 1936, often combined traditional craftsmanship with simpler neo-classical motifs, reflecting a period of transition in British decorative arts following the Edwardian period.

These pieces typically consist of a thin sheet of sterling silver shaped over a wooden core, often backed with wood or velvet, and supported by a hinged wooden strut.

Authenticity is verified by checking for British hallmarks stamped into the metal, which include a makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the town mark for Birmingham, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of assay.

Integrating these metallic pieces onto a modern mantelpiece or desk introduces historical texture and reflective metallic contrast to minimalist or transitional room schemes.

Clean the silver gently using a non-abrasive microfibre cloth and a specialist silver polish, avoiding any contact with the wooden backing or fabric interiors to prevent moisture damage.
