Edwardian silver typically features lighter, more delicate ornamentation influenced by earlier periods such as the Louis XV and Georgian styles, often displaying elaborate scrollwork and floral motifs.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as hand engraving, repousse, and chain-making, frequently fitted with internal leather or silk linings.

Authentic pieces are identified through clear British hallmarks stamped onto the metal, which typically include a makers mark, the standard mark for sterling silver, the town assay office mark, and a date letter.

Antique silver can be displayed on decorative trays, within glass-fronted cabinets, or on dressing tables to add a touch of historical texture and metallic contrast to contemporary spaces.

Antique silver should be gently cleaned with a specialized non-abrasive silver cloth to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage intricate engravings and remove desirable patination.
