Edwardian silver and glass items, produced during the reign of King Edward VII, often feature lighter, more delicate ornamentation inspired by eighteenth-century neoclassical motifs, including floral repousse work and refined glass techniques.

These pieces typically combine blown or moulded art glass bodies with sterling silver collars, caps, and lids, frequently featuring intricate embossing or hand-chased surface details.

Authenticity is verified through clear metal assay office marks, such as the anchor for Birmingham, a date letter corresponding to the specific year of production, the lion passant for sterling standard, and the makers stamp.

Such decorative objects can be displayed upon a dressing table tray, a bathroom shelf, or a mantelpiece, adding a touch of historical craftsmanship and textural contrast to modern schemes.

Silver components should be cleaned gently with a specialised microfibre cloth and non-abrasive polish, avoiding direct contact with the glass body and protecting the piece from moisture and harsh chemicals.
