A koro is a traditional Japanese vessel designed specifically for burning incense, often crafted from bronze, ceramic, or porcelain during historical periods such as the Edo era.

Edo period metalwork typically utilised lost-wax casting in bronze and brass alloys, frequently finished with patination methods to achieve deep, dark brown or mottled colouration.

Authentic pieces generally display characteristic age-related patination, hand-chased feather or surface detailing, artist signatures or foundry marks, and traditional casting flaws consistent with historical manufacturing methods.

An antique bronze object can be placed on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or coffee table as a focal sculptural element, pairing well with natural wood surfaces and minimalist arrangements.

Antique bronze should be cleaned using only a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid chemical polishes, oils, or water, as these can strip the historical patina.
