The Edwardian era, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by light, airy, and delicate designs often executed in platinum and yellow gold, heavily influenced by neoclassical motifs like garlands, ribbons, and lace patterns.

Edwardian rings frequently combined yellow gold or gold shanks with platinum settings to maximise the brilliance of diamonds. Hand-fabrication, millegrain detailing, and intricate openwork filigree were standard construction methods of the period.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-cut diamonds such as old European or old mine cuts, distinctive hand-forged metalwork, period-appropriate hallmarks, and signs of age-related wear such as light patina on the precious metals.

An antique ring pairs well with modern minimalist attire to let the historic craftsmanship stand out, or it can be stacked with contemporary bands for a curated, eclectic jewellery look.

Antique rings should be cleaned gently using warm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush, avoiding harsh ultrasonic cleaners which can damage fragile settings or old gemstones. Regular professional checks by a jeweller ensure the prongs and millegrain remain secure.
