A Victorian silver and glass scent bottle is a portable container used during the 19th century to hold liquid perfumes or smelling salts, typically featuring an ornate sterling silver lid and a decorative glass body.

These pieces were typically crafted using hand-blown or moulded glassoften clear, coloured, or casedpaired with hallmarked sterling silver collars, caps, and hinged lids.

Authentic pieces are identified by clear British hallmarks stamped on the silver components indicating the assay office, makers mark, and date letter, alongside hand-finished glass characteristics consistent with 19th-century manufacturing.

An antique scent bottle can be displayed on a mirrored tray atop a dressing table, within a glass-fronted cabinet, or styled on a bathroom shelf to add a touch of historical elegance.

Preserve the items by dusting the glass gently with a soft cloth and using a non-abrasive silver polish strictly on the metal components, taking care to avoid getting polish on the glass or vintage interior cork lining.
