We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Mourning rings were commissioned to memorialise deceased loved ones, particularly during the Georgian era, featuring inscriptions, hairwork, or black enamel to signify grief and remembrance.

These pieces frequently incorporated low-carat yellow gold, black vitreous enamel, carved jet, hair under glass, and occasionally pearls to represent tears.

Authenticity is indicated by period-appropriate hand-carved lettering, closed-back settings, natural wear consistent with age, and specific hallmarks or lack thereof typical of early 19th-century goldsmithing.

Such pieces can be worn as a striking statement ring paired with modern minimalist bands to highlight the contrast between historical sentiment and contemporary design.

Enamel and jet are relatively soft and brittle; they should be kept away from harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and extreme temperature changes, and stored individually in a lined box.
