FAQs

French lighting from this period frequently incorporates classical motifs, such as acanthus leaves and scrolls, executed in cast brass or bronze with gilt finishes.

These fixtures are typically constructed from cast or stamped brass, hand-finished with an applied layer of gold leaf or gilt paint, and feature integrated wiring or candle tubes.

Authentic period pieces generally exhibit natural oxidisation, heavy cast-metal construction, hand-chased details, and older internal wiring components rather than lightweight modern alloys.

Mounting these fixtures on dark or boldly coloured walls creates a striking contrast that highlights the metallic texture and classical silhouette within a modern room.

Dust the fixtures gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical polishes, which can strip away the delicate gilt or gold leaf finish.
