CENTRAL LOBED EIGHT POINTED ARABESQUE MEDALLION. ALSO HAS UNUSUAL THORNY BRANCH TYPE MOTIFS INTO THE FILLER DESIGN.

WITH UNUSUAL VERY LIGHT/PALE GREEN COLOURS.

This 1920s Persian Tabriz area rug displays a hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, styled with an unusual overall design in terracotta red, navy blue, cream, and very light pale green. The surface carries a central lobed eight-pointed arabesque medallion, corner spandrels, and a multi-band floral border alongside floral arabesques. Particular motifs include two pairs of arms holding flower fronds at each end, a pair of birds beside a floralistic urn of flowers at each side, and thorny branch filler elements. The pile has an all over even low appearance with some moth damage primarily concentrated to the border, alongside visible fringes at the ends.
