Chippendale Style Mahogany Bookcase Cabinet C.1920

Description

Superb quality Chippendale style mahogany bookcase or display cabinet c.1920. Glazed bookcase top fitted with three adjustable shelves (internal depth 10") over a low two door cupboard base. Topped with a particularly fine carved and pierced swan neck pediment (with a little display shelf at the centre) over a carved frieze continued on the sides. Lovely shaped and moulded glazing bars creating pointed and trefoil arches with carved detail. Brass door trim to the top and bottom. Symmetrical flame mahogany veneered door panels within raised mouldings and crossbanded surround. Crisply carved apron around the front and sides of the base and raised on short cabriole legs with ball and claw feet front and rear. Solid mahogany sides, quality brass lock, latches, hinges and shelf supports. With repairs to the base of the right hand sawn neck. Otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
