Exquisite Victorian Silver Purse by Joseph Gloster, Birmingham 1900

Description

This very pretty late Victorian sterling silver purse was made by the renowned silversmith Jospeh Gloster. Of rounded rectangular form, both sides engraved with foliate scrolls. The front with a vacant cartouche. The push button opening to reveal the original blue moire silk compartmentalised interior.

Hallmarks:

J.G for Joseph Gloster

Date letter "a" for 1900.

Birmingham Assay mark.

Lion passant.

Dimensions:

Width: 8cm / 3 inches.

Height: 4.5cm / 1.6 inches.

Condition:

Very good throughout

A little stiff to open, as it seems to have been hardly used.
