Antique Large Victorian Carved Oak Bookcase C1880 Wdb6177/6.12

Superb large antique victorian carved oak bookcase and dating form around 1880. It has a cornice top above a deep carved frieze and two glazed doors with carved frames and with working key. Internally there are two adjustable shelves and two each side there is a heavy barley twist column and supported on beautifully carved lions. The base has a carved edge above two carved drawers with carved oak handles and are oak lined. There are two beautifully carved panelled doors of herons within a laurel wreath and one of the herons with a fish in his mouth the doors have their original key and internal shelf. To either side once again is a heavy barley twist column. It sits on a plinth base with bun feet and separates into three pieces for ease of transporting.

It is in very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the quality oak oozing the charm and character of the period and we have given it a deep waxed polish.
