Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III period silver baskets, crafted between 1760 and 1820, are recognised for intricate hand-pierced latticework, repousse floral motifs, beaded borders, and cast twisted swing handles. Designs shifted from elaborate Rococo scrolls in the 1760s toward restrained Neoclassical forms later in the century.

Silversmiths formed the basic oval or circular bowl shape from sheet sterling silver, using hand chisels, punches, and saws to pierce the decorative lattice patterns. Handles and foot rims were cast separately and soldered onto the main body before final polishing.

Authentic Georgian silver carries a standard mark (the lion passant for sterling silver), a town mark (such as the leopards head for London), a makers mark, and a specific date letter. From 1784 onward, a duty mark depicting the sovereigns profile was also applied.

An antique silver basket serves as a decorative tabletop object on a sideboard, console table, or dining table centrepiece. It can be displayed empty to highlight its pierced metalwork or used to hold small decorative items.

Wash the silver in warm water with mild, non-citrus dish soap using a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly with a microfibre towel. Avoid abrasive polishes, rubber gloves, or dip cleaners, as these can strip natural patination and damage delicate hand-pierced detailing.
