Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silver plating developed rapidly during the 19th century through electroplating techniques, allowing middle-class households to afford ornate tableware that previously was restricted to solid sterling silver.

These items typically consist of a base metal such as copper or nickel silver, coated with a layer of pure silver using electroplating. Pierced designs were often hand-cut or machine-stamped before plating.

Authenticity is usually verified through maker marks, hallmark stamps, and the quality of the plating. Sheffield plate and early electroplate carry specific manufacturer ciphers and stamps from the period.

Such pieces can function as decorative catch-alls on a coffee table or sideboard, providing a reflective metallic contrast to matte modern surfaces and organic textures.

Preservation requires gentle cleaning with non-abrasive silver polish and microfiber cloths to avoid wearing away the thin silver layer, storing them in tarnish-resistant environments when not in use.
