Sublime Silver Footed Dish by Mappin & Webb Sheffield 1946

A sublime silver footed dish.  Nicely sized  (13cm x 13cm),  the dish sits on one ciruclar foot.  The design, though simple, is both elegant and chic (see images). Underneath the dish are the clear hallmarks for Sheffield 1946, along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker's mark for the renowned silversmiths:  Mappin & Webb .  The stamp for 'Mappin & Webb London & Sheffield', along with the retailer's reference marks are also visible on the underside of the circular foot. 

 

A superior dish and in great condition (some surface scratching to the plain polished silver commensurate with age and mentioned only for complete accuracy).
