A fine and unusual early 20th century 900 silver gilt vesta, likely American in origin.
The vesta is in the form of a sealed envelope, with the front bearing a silver stamp and the address ''His Excellency, Count d''Aico Valley, Washington'' and the reverse showing the envelope folds with a match striker to the stamp end.
There is some tarnish to the gilt and the hinge is a little over-sprung; it opens nicely but has lost its ''snap''.
A great little piece.
