Description

A very handsome late 19th century French mahogany glazed bookcase in the Louis XVI style with brass fittings. There are 4 adjustable shelves with brass front edgings and at the top there is a decorative pediment and nicely turned finials at the corners. Polished brass ornamentation completes the piece, with fluted vertical side pieces. It sits on turned feet at the front and square at the back. A vertical locking mechanism is in good working order, with the key available.

This will make a great bookcase for any home or period decorated office. The adjustable shelves are very practical, allowing any size of book to be accommodated, whilst the glazed doors will allow this to be used as a display cabinet if preferred.

Dating to circa 1890, this is a mahogany piece with brass fittings and originates from France.

It is in very good recently restored condition with only signs of age related wear.

There are some small dents in the brass at various points, mostly in the horizontal brass band at the bottom of the frame, but these are not obtrusive.
