A Rare 18th Century Walnut Stool, C.1720

A rare early 18th century walnut stool, c.1720. The bifurcated legs with acanthus carved knees terminating in pad feet. Possibly Thomas Roberts or family. Newly upholstered in Claremont Amelia crackle damask.
 
A remarkably similar stool with identical legs incorporating bifurcated knees (see image) was offered at Sotheby''s, ‘The Age of Oak and Walnut'' Sale, 28th September 2004, Lot 63. (estimate £15,000-20,000).
