Yolanda Gray Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The scribe decoration is also visible on the shelf fronts and two-door panels below. The open recess comprises two adjustable mahogany shelves, secured by the original wooden pegs, allowing the shelves to be moved up or down to adjust the height of each shelf. Below the open shelves are two fielded panel cupboard doors; ideal for storing paperwork or other objects. The left-hand door retains the original brass sliding bolt, and the right-hand door retains its original brass lever lock (with working key) and original external brass drop-ring handle. The Victorian mahogany bookcase stands on its original block moulded plinth.

This Victorian bookshelf boasts its lovely mellow colour. The bookcase has been cleaned and French polished, by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination are of an excellent standard, along with age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the office, library or living room. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional.
