Suitable for placement directly on a fireplace hearth, this accessory serves both functional and decorative roles in a period-style living room or a gentleman's library. It is designed to frame the hearth space securely while complementing traditional or revival interior schemes.

FAQs

Art Nouveau hearth items feature organic, flowing lines inspired by natural forms, frequently displaying stylized plant motifs and whiplash curves in cast or wrought metals.

Period fenders were predominantly crafted from brass, copper, or cast iron, often featuring hand-riveted joints, sheet metal bases, and cast decorative mounts.

Genuine pieces usually exhibit signs of hand-assembly such as period screws or rivets, subtle surface variations, and natural patination in crevices rather than uniform modern machine finishes.

Position the fender around the base of a cast-iron or tiled fireplace to define the hearth area and provide visual balance against timber or stone flooring.

Clean the surface using a soft dry cloth to remove soot, applying a non-abrasive brass polish sparingly when necessary to prevent accumulation in detailed relief work.
