Exceptionally Attractive Victorian Silver Letter Opener Sheffield 1896

This is an exceptionally attractive and unusual Victorian solid silver letter opener, nicely proportioned and with a lovely ornate finial at the top. Full and very clear hallmarks are visible on the blade for the Sheffield Assay office with a date mark for 1896, Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker''s mark for the silversmith James Dixon & Sons Ltd.
 
 
 
A lovely letter opener, great as a gift for many occasions.
