Pretty Victorian Silver Oval Pill Box Birmingham 1876 Minshull & Latimer

A very pretty and sturdy, Victorian oval shaped Pill Box.  The lid is nicely patterned with a floral design and shield shaped vacant cartouche in the centre.  The body is a plain polished silver.  When the hinge lid is opened a lovely  gilt wash is revealed.  Hallmarks are visible on the inside lip of the pot with partial marks on the lid for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1876, Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker's mark for the silversmith Minshull & Latimer.

 

An exceptionally attractive and well made Pill Box and in great condition.

Measurements:   Height:   1.4 cm   Width: 3.8 cm     Depth:  2.4 cm    Weight:  21.4 grams  (good heavy gauge).
