The Silver Cabinet has dated this Silver Candle Snuffer Tray to the Georgian era.
The snuffers carry the maker's mark for John Gilbert, registered in 1812 in Birmingham. They are beautifully decorated. There is a small amount of damage to the plating at the very (sharp) tip on the snuffers.

The tray carries the maker's mark for William Briggs. This mark was registered in 1822 in Sheffield. It has a slightly waisted shape with good clear decoration. The tray stands upon a raised central base.

Whilst not a matching set, the two items sit together well and form a wonderful piece of history.
