Description

A beautiful rare huge English Edwardian solid sterling silver vesta case / cheroot holder. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1906 with the makers marks being that of Robert Pringle & Sons. It has been superbly designed being engraved with flowers around a cartouche engraved 'Captain R M Grigg 16.2.1918' possibly of the Duke of Cornwall's light Infantry who served in the Boer War. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It works perfectly with a strong mechanism and is clean and gilded inside. It is far larger than most measuring approx. 2 inches (5cm) tall by 2.25 inches (5.8cm) wide excluding the loop and weighs 50 grams. A very high quality fascinating example.
