Description

A stunning rare Victorian English antique solid sterling silver cup or mug. It is hallmarked for London with the date mark being difficult to decipher but looks like 1854 or 1855 which fits with the maker which is James & Nathaniel Creswick. It has been very nicely designed being engraved with various animal scenes from Aesop's fable the Wolf and the Crane. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs - one panel engraved with the letter A. It measures approx. 4 inches (9.7cms) tall to the top of the handle by 3.75 inches (9.4cms) across including the handle and 2.75 inches (7cms) excluding it by 3 inches (7.6cms) across the base and weighs 174 grams. A beautifully made piece.
