Description

An extremely good quality Edwardian chandelier with three tiers of graduating icicle droplets finished with glass sphere on a decorative brass frame with pierced anthemion motifs hanging on three adjustable chains. The light has four bulb holders which when lit illuminates the faceted icicle droplets. The brass has been cleaned and lacquered and the light has been rewired and is in full working order.

The chandelier is attributed to Osler. Thomas Osler established the business 1807 in Birmingham where it first began manufacturing small glass trinkets. A year later it began making glass icicle droplets and from then on chandeliers where been produced to the highest of standards. In 1847 Osler made a pair of candelabras for Egypt's ruler and in 1851 he was commissioned to make the Crystal Palace Fountain for The Great Exhibition.
