Roman Gold and Garnet Drop Fishhook Earrings

Description

Spectacular Roman gold and garnet drop fishhook earrings. Drilled and cut garnets are threaded onto a gold wire to form a pair of drop earrings. The 14ct gold fishhook backing are modern additions allowing them to be easily and safely worn. A wonderful piece of history to own, dating back to the Imperia Roman period. A part of our ancient jewellery collection.

CONDITION

Very Good – These Roman gold and garnet drop fishhook earrings are in superb condition. The earring drops have been taken form an original pendant and new fishhooks added to complete a fine pair of wearable earrings. There are some small chips to the garnets, which is quite usual with an item of this age. The original gold metalwork is in good order, holding the garnets in place securely.
