American Secretaire Display Cabinet

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1900. An unusual stylish carved oak American secretaire display cabinet with art nouveau influences. The oak top carved, with brass studs, the center with a circular mirror with a bevel edge with an arch on front with brass studs, carved dragon, turned balustrades and further carving. Glazed door with two adjustable shelves on the right, a long narrow door on the left with three adjustable shelves. Bureau flap with a carved mythical head, foliate carving and unusual brass strapping. Opens to reveal a simple but stylish interior with a drawer beneath, further cupboard and open spaces all sitting on six square feet finishing with a block toe.
