A rare Victorian English solid sterling silver vinaigrette box. It is unmarked but tests as high grade silver. I would date it to c1850. It has been beautifully made and is unusual in the way it opens rather like a satchel. It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. The inside is gilded and still contains its sponge. It measures approx. 1.5 inches (3.6cms) long excluding the loop by over 0.75 inch (2.1cms) wide by 0.25 inch (0.7cms) tall and weighs 12 grams excluding the sponge. A beautiful little piece.
